Our Story

Homegrown Sonoma started as our family brainstormed during the pandemic about what we wanted our summers to look like going forward. Living out in the “country” doesn’t provide our children with the neighborhood playground they so desire in the summer months.

We love sharing our space with others and thought Summer Camps would be a great addition to Sonoma Summer offerings as well as provide some income to our slow growing homesteading goals.

Our People

Picture
The Director
Mindy is a Jill of all trades with a mission to provide children with a play-based curriculum that inspires them to grow in a community with one another after one of the most isolating times in our lives.

The Helpers
Charlotte and Evelynn grew up benefitting from the Homegrown Sonoma philosophy, and now they share their love of community and adventure by lending a helping hand with the kids at summer camp, caring for the animals, and all other aspects of farm life.

They have both grown a deep appreciation for homesteading and have their own 4-H and FFA projects this year.

The Ambassador
Sammy Ray was part of the Homegrown Sonoma original summer camp crew and tests out all of the activities for genuine kid approval.

Our Animals

Piggies

Mimsy & Marve, our Kune Kune pigs are a joy to have around. They love to follow us around, graze in the pasture, and act as natural garbage disposals and rototillers.

Chickies

Our eggers are such a joy to sit and watch. Each one has it’s own personality! We have two of each of the following breeds here at Homegrown Sonoma: Double Silver Laced Barnevelder, German Bielefelder, Azure Egger, Sizzles, French Copper Maran, and Plymouth Rock.

We also raise Red Broiler chickens for meat!

Doggies

Molly Rose, the German Shorthair Pointer, always has her nose to the ground sniffing out critters and wagging her tail. She is a sweet soul who wants to be out with us, free to roam the property. She barks excessively if she is in her dog run which can be a nuisance to the neighbors... hehe.

Dinah Jane, (not pictured) the Great Dane/Doberman, loves to stick right next to us either leaning on us or nudging us with her nose for pets. She’s intimidating at first, but the only thing to beware of is her whip of a tail.

Bunnies

Evie Marie’s Rabbitry currently has two Show French Lops, Ruby & Stormy as well as a meat rabbit pen. They are oh so soft and offer one of the best sources of fertilizer out there!

Bees

Bees coming soon! We are anxiously waiting on our lovely friends at the Sonoma Beekeepers Association or other local friends to provide a swarm. If we have trouble gaining one, we will purchase a new hive from Bee Kind in Sebastapol. Tim is quite the Beeman.
